I love meeting a new family. Being welcomed into their home. Getting to be one of the first people to meet their new miracle.

During our session I LOVE getting to know all of the bits and pieces of their new baby…

He has daddy’s chin
He has mommy’s dimples
He is named after his grandpa, who is a stone Mason.
His 4-legged big brother and sister adore him.

I love visiting the nursery that has been so carefully prepared for him.
I love getting to capture the diaper changes, the snuggles, and the yawns and sighs of this little life.
I love getting a glimpse of the pure joy radiating from his brand new mom and dad, who are still coming to grips that this little man is truly their’s.

And every once in awhile I get to catch a rare, sweet smile. Just a peek into this sweet boy’s happy future!

When Rob and Aimee met in college, I wonder if they ever would have guessed that they would be the parents of twin boys and a 2 year old with the strength of the hulk?

I have had the privilege of photographing these sweet boys since Benny (the hulk) was a newborn. We have had some epic sessions (including one that started with a bloody lip and ended with mass casualties), but this one was AMAZING! Aimee agrees, “My favorite part of the session was when Benny plopped down on the blanket on his stomach for his turn to take pictures. Wow, that’s a change from last year! Last year my 1 year old ran in the opposite direction that he should have the whole time… but now that’s a memory. It was just the stage he was in.”

I love getting to see kiddos grow and change, and also getting to see their relationships deepen with each other. These three little men are quickly becoming each other’s best friends…

Their mom says, “Even if the kids don’t seem to be cooperating during the session , Jessica is amazing and will still somehow manage to get good photos.”

From Levi’s mommy, “Levi is mine and my husbands biggest accomplishment! Our union in marriage brought him to us! What a blessing all around.”

The best part of an in-home newborn session is the ease an relaxation it offers. Instead of packing up yourself and your newborn, parents get to stay at home (in their slippers ;-). They can eat, rest, and be completely comfortable while capturing memories in their favorite space. What a better way to celebrate your new miracle! Levi’s mom agrees:

“I was a little nervous at first to do a lifestyle session. I was nervous about lighting and our home being clean. The lighting turned out wonderful and home photographed good! We don’t have closet doors, so Jessica didn’t get our closet in the shoot. All the little things I worried about didn’t need to be worried about at all! We felt extremely comfortable with Jessica. She is just a good hearted person! She handled our baby with ease and love. We were very happy we booked with her! We moved from room to room with the light of the house. We loved feeling so comfortable in our home and being able breastfeed without concern. I’d recommend using Jessica to my friends and family!”

I love lifestyle sessions and capturing their REAL life.

During each of our yearly lifestyle sessions, I make sure that we always include the family’s favorite parts of their day-to-day. This session included their favorite family activities like playtime, tickles, books, and dancing. This year we also included the “helping hands” involved in Bex’s new business Happy Little Flame. As all entrepreneurs know, a small business involves every member of the family, from the biggest to the littlest. We were able to capture all of the ‘coworkers’ helping mommy out.

Whether it’s a big event, or the everyday in and out of life, I love to capture them all! And I love that these are the things that are important to my clients too! Bex says, “Lately, my brain is just so full… with raising a family, running a business, and chasing my passions, it’s bursting at the seams! There are memories and special moments that get buried, and I LOVE having beautiful pictures that can transport me back to a specific time. The best part about doing a lifestyle shoot is that it shows what our lives are like at that moment in time.”

And Bex’s mom-tip for your lifestyle shoot: “Make sure you carve out enough time to get yourself ready. With little kids it’s hard to take time to do your make-up and hair, and also get them ready. This last session was the first time I made sure I had enough time to make myself look the way I wanted, and it felt so good!”
