Meet Jonathan and Lyssa Stoyko. They recently celebrated their ten year anniversary. Josiah and Caleb Stoyko joined their family this year and they are in love. Josiah (9.5 months) is full of joy and loves exploring. Caleb (5 weeks) is growing quickly and his smile melts their hearts. They love to get outdoors when they can and explore new places.

Mom Lyssa says, “What made this photo shoot so special is that it was our first family photo shoot. A year ago, Jonathan and I weren’t sure our family would ever be larger than the two of us and now we have these incredible boys. We were so excited to capture the abundant blessings from the Lord that these two boys are. This photo shoot is a testimony of God’s faithfulness to us, and to these boys and their birth families.”

Lyssa’s words of wisdom for a fall shoot for a few family of 4, “There’s nothing like drool pouring down your baby’s chin during a picture, or mosquitoes landing on our faces while we try to smile! But don’t spend a lot of time worrying about the shoot, especially the poses. Trust Jessica, she’ll help make it go smoothly.” She also recommends playing a YouTube video of a vacuum for the baby so that mom can get a pre-shoot shower in 🙂

When Rob and Aimee met in college, I wonder if they ever would have guessed that they would be the parents of twin boys and a 2 year old with the strength of the hulk?

I have had the privilege of photographing these sweet boys since Benny (the hulk) was a newborn. We have had some epic sessions (including one that started with a bloody lip and ended with mass casualties), but this one was AMAZING! Aimee agrees, “My favorite part of the session was when Benny plopped down on the blanket on his stomach for his turn to take pictures. Wow, that’s a change from last year! Last year my 1 year old ran in the opposite direction that he should have the whole time… but now that’s a memory. It was just the stage he was in.”

I love getting to see kiddos grow and change, and also getting to see their relationships deepen with each other. These three little men are quickly becoming each other’s best friends…

Their mom says, “Even if the kids don’t seem to be cooperating during the session , Jessica is amazing and will still somehow manage to get good photos.”

During each of our yearly lifestyle sessions, I make sure that we always include the family’s favorite parts of their day-to-day. This session included their favorite family activities like playtime, tickles, books, and dancing. This year we also included the “helping hands” involved in Bex’s new business Happy Little Flame. As all entrepreneurs know, a small business involves every member of the family, from the biggest to the littlest. We were able to capture all of the ‘coworkers’ helping mommy out.

Whether it’s a big event, or the everyday in and out of life, I love to capture them all! And I love that these are the things that are important to my clients too! Bex says, “Lately, my brain is just so full… with raising a family, running a business, and chasing my passions, it’s bursting at the seams! There are memories and special moments that get buried, and I LOVE having beautiful pictures that can transport me back to a specific time. The best part about doing a lifestyle shoot is that it shows what our lives are like at that moment in time.”

And Bex’s mom-tip for your lifestyle shoot: “Make sure you carve out enough time to get yourself ready. With little kids it’s hard to take time to do your make-up and hair, and also get them ready. This last session was the first time I made sure I had enough time to make myself look the way I wanted, and it felt so good!”

 

So, add to your to do list: schedule a lifestyle session with Jess, and treat yourself to an additive, dye, and phthalate free candle from Happy Little Flame. You will be glad you did, for so many reasons!!

When your house is filled with baseball and boys, and your mom is a dance, the whole house rejoices when a sweet little girl enters their midst. Emersyn is already deeply loved by her older brothers, who begged to snuggle her our entire session!

Her “Studio Delivery” session in home shoot combined the poses of my studio with the comfort of the family’s home. Her brothers could eat lunch and nap while little sis was the perfect model. We were also able to capture lifestyle shots of the new family of 5. Truly the best of both worlds!
