When it’s SUPER cold out and you want a memorable shoot, your photographer also becomes your tour guide. This new JLS family hopped in and out of their car to avoid the chill, while I took them on a journey to my most favorite photo spots around the lake.
We started our session at my VERY favorite coffeeshop Boxed and Burlap (you HAVE to try the Lavender Latte!). The bright yet cozy setting was the perfect spot for this family of 3 to snuggle with a mug of hot cocoa.
After stepping outside to enjoy the winter sun, we hopped back in the car for a jaunt around the lake.
It wouldn’t be Geneva Lake without a some sand and nature. We made a stop in Williams Bay to put our toes in the sand and take a quick walk at the nature conservatory.
During the holidays, quaint local tree stands are my favorite place for a Christmas card photo. This adorable lot with twinkle lights and antique sleds gave us a huge dose of Christmas spirit!
It wouldn’t be winter without a little snow. A sledding adventure was the perfect way to end our tour around the lake… until our littlest family member toppled of her sled!
I had so much fun on our shoot, and I think this family did too! Mom says, “Loved the cute quaint coffee shop! Felt very cozy and perfect for indoor photos! Loved the board walk. Hope to visit the board walk and beach there again when it’s warmer! Excited to ski and sled in the mountain top at the Grand once Braelyn gets a littler older!”
Her advice to other families is, “Be prepared! Come with a few different weather permitting options for photos!”
She also said, “Mommy almost fell down the sled hill. Will wear better shoes for next time!” I said, “Next time we’re doing a beach shoot in the summer!!” I can’t wait to see them again when the weather is warm, but we had an amazing winter shoot around the lake!
